booking
Booking was made through the Nederlander website. Click here for the booking page.
I had already registered for their access scheme. You need to allow at least five days between registering and attempting to book tickets. You can register here.
Once you are registered you access the website select the show and then click add promo code. A drop down box if promo options will appear. Make sure you click the right box and enter the promo code. If you click the wrong box you will not be able to return back as the promo codes disappear.
There are four wheelchair spaces two in boxes D and E and Dress Circle Row C 1 and 25. The wheelchair restrictions are 60cm wide by 85cm deep. Row C are also available as transfer seats. If you want the seat removed it's advisable to contact the theatre in advance as they did not remove the seat for our visit or contact us to check whether we wanted transfer/ non transfer. The access line number is 020 7836 5537.
You get an access ticket half price and a companion ticket half price if you are eligible which makes it one of the more expensive ticket options available.

Access Overview
We were seated in the dress circle in Seats C25 and C24. Access to the dress circle is via a side door. The corridors leading to the Seats are narrow, uneven and steep but my Quickie Q100R managed fine. If you have a wider chair you might want to contact the theatre first in order to check widths. I would advise this if you are booking a box as well as the door widths look quite narrow. The Aldwych have good access guides to all seats, click below to see a guide.
Toilet Facilities
The accessible toilet was located in the corridor on the way to the dress circle is exclusive for access patrons. The toilet is a good size but the actual toilet is quite tight to the wall and this is the only toilet where I have accidentally triggered the emergency pull cord alarm!
The entrance to the toilet is a very steep ramp due to the historic design and layout of the theatre so you may require additional support to access it.
Access Host
We were met at the front of the theatre and escorted round to the side. They asked if we wanted to wait until everyone had left to get the chair at the end of the performance as it had to be stored at the front of the building in the corridor. We were not checked on during the show or assisted at the end. My carer had to go and find the chair in order to return it to me. We were also not asked if we wanted to remain in the chair or transfer, I had assumed that I would remain I the chair but will defiantly contact the theatre in advance next time.

Seat & View
There are two wheelchair spaces in Box D and E where you can remain in your chair and two on Row C seats 1 and 25 where you can either transfer or remain in your chair with the seat removed.
The boxes are advertised as a restricted side view and are cheaper with box D accomodating one additional patron and the box E accommodating three additional patrons.
The Aldwych website has a step free route guide to the box seats and the doorways look rather tight so it wild be advisable to contact them before booking. Guide can be viewed here Box D and Box E here. Step free Guides to the seats in Row C are also available. Click here for seat C1 and here for seat C25.
We booked C25 but we did not specify that we wanted to remain the chair so this is advisable as the view is obstructed somewhat by the safety bar.
