booking
Booking was easy and made by online using the ATG website.
I had already registered for their access scheme. They link to a Nimbus account so for easiest access you should register for a Nimbus card if you haven't already. All Nimbus application information can be found here .
Once you have a Nimbus card you can register with ATG and link your card, then when you sign in to your account your access needs will be automatically identified and you will be able to book seats online which suit your needs. The ATG access page can be found here.
Once your account is linked just access the ATG booking page select the show you would like to see and log into your account. Select the show here. Wheelchair accessible seats are shown with a wheelchair icon. Once selected the seat will appear with a tick, and then you just reserve and check out. On my account the transfer seats are not selectable so I have to contact the ATG Accessibility assistance line on 00333 009 5399 to book these.
In the Duke of York's Theatre the dedicated non transfer wheelchair spaces are in Royal Circle Row C2 and C23 of the dress circle . The Royal Circle Row D1 and D18 are transfer only seats with level access from the foyer. See Seats for more information about the views and restrictions.
If you are eligible there is a free carer ticket and an access rate so the ticket prices were very reasonable.
ATG also offer a variety of adaptations and assistances when booking tickets and visiting the venue. Full information can be found here

Access Overview
Excellent location in the heart of Covent Garden with lots of accessible restaurants close by.
If you are accessing the theatre from Trafalgar Square you need to walk on right side of St Martins Lane as there is no dropped curb on the left side.
Access to the theatre is via a front door. There is a flat access to the wheelchair spaces in the circle. Row D also has a transfer seat which we chose for this performance.
The bar is accessible but heavily congested during the interval. The access host or a carer can easily access this on your behalf. You can also get drinks delivered to your seat via an app.
Toilet Facilities
The toilet was located at the opposite side of the theatre to our seats so during the interval I had to negotiate the very busy foyer. The access host helped with this but the toilet was occupied so I ended up blocking the queue for the ladies toilet.
However it was tiny. Barely big enough to fit a compact chair even after removing my footplates and with no turning space. It was not possible to lock to door once inside.
It would also be helpful in my opinion to have a radar key lock on the toilet as that way only individual's who need to access the toilet could.
Access Host
The access host service was polite and showed us to our seats.
During the interval they were incredibly helpful informing me when the toilet was free and waited outside as I was unable to lock the door.
They assisted my carer with storage of my electric chair.

Seat & View
In the Duke of York's Theatre the dedicated non transfer wheelchair spaces are in Row C2 and C23 of the dress circle . Row D1 and D18 are transfer only seats with level access from the foyer.
The wheelchair space (C23) was one of the worst I have been to. The space was on a slant and it felt as if I was in a court dock with wooden framing around the space. Also there was a lip between the wooden dock and slope which caused wheelspin. It also felt like I was attending alone as the companion seat although technically next to the 'dock' is on a level below. This seat made me feel very disabled and the view was severely restricted. The layout of the theatre meant that from the seat on the right side, even when leaning over I was unable to see any of the show which took place on stage left.
In contrast the view from transfer seats was excellent. You could see the whole statge and set. However it was two seats in from the end as the transfer seat wasn't available and required some manoeuvring. Choosing these seats was a bit more complicated than a standard wheelchair seat but worth it.
My carer also had to place my electric chair in the foyer and collect it during the interval and at the end of the performance. This was fine for us but may be problematic to a solo person although I am sure the staff would accommodate and assist you as best they could.
