Hello Dolly at The Palladium

Booking

Booking was easily made via the LW online booking website. I have previous registered for access tickets. As I had booked tickets before I was registered and knew which seats to book.

Access Ticket £29

Essential Carer Ticket Free

Theatre Location

Located on Argyll Street just off Oxford Street and Regents Street. Very easy to locate.

We found food options to be more limited than the west end unless you wanted fast food. Accessible resyuramts in this area would require more advance research and pre-booking.  However it is only a 10-15 minute walk to Soho, Leicester Square and China Town.

Theatre Access

Access to the theatre is via side door at the front of the Theatre. This is a larger theatre so we got there early to avoid the crowds and left during the encore for the same reason. Access to the stalls is via a lift. We were escorted in the lift and â€‹shown to our seats.

The slope inside the back of the theatre stalls is quite steep but the access host will make you aware of this upon entering.

Access Host

The access host service was excellent.  They  greeted us at the enterance showed us to our seat and helped us exit. They escorted us in the lift and gave good directions regarding the slanted floor.

Unlike our previous visit the access host checked on us during the interval and even bought our pre ordered interval drinks to our seat.

They assisted us when leaving and helped us leave through a stalls exit door which meant we did not need to negotiate the lift or crowds.

Seat and Staging

We sat in O48 and O47.

The wheelchair space (O48) was fine. It was the same seat we had for Cool Rider at the end of the row. To fit in with a power chair you have to be on a diagonal slant to avoid blocking others view. During the first half I could see fine but in the second half as there were empty seats some other patrons moved into them and the man in front of me was particularly tall which meant I had to move my head to see.

Also during the interval I moved from the end of the row to the side of the wall to allow people in and out but I unintentionally ended up in the ice cream queue so just be aware as you might have a queue of hungry ice cream fans behind you.

We left at the encore to beat the rush of people but many had this idea so we were stuck in a queue.

The staging of the show was good for the most part but there was one restaurant scene where the booths at the side obstructed the view of the back of the stage.

Toilets

There are two accessible toilets we are aware of at the Palladium. This time we only used the downstairs toilet located off the stalls. This is much larger and had space for turning and a side transfer although it was a little tired and basic it was perfectly functional.

I would recommend using the toilet upstairs when you first access the palladium through the bar as it is very opulent and worth a look.

I visited in April 2024 and all views expressed above are my personal opinion.

It was my first visit to the London Palladium
