The Picture of Dorian Gray at Royal Theatre Haymarket
Booking
Booking was made via the dedicated access ticket phone line. There is not an online booking facility for wheelchair spaces. Tickets need to be collected from the box office which is fine with a companion but the box office is inaccessible to wheelchairs so if you are accessing the theatre alone you would have to request assistance.

There is no free essential carer ticket however the total ticket costs are better than half price.

Access Ticket £40
Essential Carer Ticket £40

Theatre Location
Great Location minutes from Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square.

Lots of accessible restaurants with pre theatre menus although booking in advance is recommended as it gets very busy.

Theatre Access
Access to the theatre is via a side door. You are not able to access the lobby due to steps.

We were seated in the stalls and we did not access the bar because the play was two hours long with no interval.

Wheelchair Access Review Theatre Royal Haymarket

Access Host
The access host service we received was great. He was very polite and greeted us at the front of the theatre. He placed a ramp at my seat and waited for us to use the toilet facilities at the end.
As there was no interval there was not much assistance needed but we had no complaints.
Seat and Staging
We sat in X3 and X4.

The wheelchair space (N34) was ok, it looked like they had removed two seats so it was spacious. I could stay in my chair but it was sloped downwards so I required a wooden wedge. I was not obstructing anyone else's view as the seat is on the back row.

The carer seat was also not the best. The Gentleman next to my carer jiggled his leg and the entire row for the whole show. The back row also meant that for shorter carers or low wheelchairs some of the stage will be obscured.
Also take care to enter the seats from the main aisle not the wheelchair space as my carer hurt her leg on the metal attachment which was sticking out.

The staging of the performance meant that the impact was lessened by the overhang. The huge screens meant that the visual elements integral to the show were not all visible. This was a shame because the play was incredible.

Toilets
The toilets were located on the other side of the theatre to our seats but we accessed them at the end of the show after everyone had left.

The toilet was a large size which can fit a power chair face on and was large enough to turn around in or transfer from a side on position.

I visited in April 2024 and all views expressed above are my personal opinion.
It was my first visit to Theatre Royal Haymarket
