An Enemy of The People at Duke of York's Theatre
Booking
Booking was easily made via the ATG website. I have previous registered for access tickets which meant I was able to book wheelchair spaces.

Access Ticket £20
Essential Carer Ticket Free
Theatre Location

Excellent location in the heart of Covent Garden with lots of accessible restaurants close by.

If you are accessing the theatre from Trafalgar Square you need to walk on right side of St Martins Lane as there is no dropped curb on the left side.

Theatre Access
Access to the theatre is via a front door. There is a flat access to the wheelchair spaces in the circle.
The bar is not accessible but the access host or a carer can easily access this on your behalf. You can also get drinks delivered to your seat via an app.

Access Host
The access host service was polite and showed us to our seats.

During the interval I had to find her as she was busy attending to other guests but she was incredibly helpful informing me when the toilet was free and waited outside as I was unable to lock the door.
Seat and Staging
We sat in C22 and C23.

The wheelchair space (C23) was one of the worst I have been to. The space was on a slant and it felt as if I was in a court dock with wooden framing around the space. Also there was a lip between the wooden dock and slope which caused wheelspin. It also felt like I was attending with alone as the carer seat although technically next to the 'dock' is on a level below. This seat made me feel very disabled.

The staging of the show meant that from the seat on the right side, even when leaning over I was unable to see any of the show which took place on the table at the right side. However the part of the show I could see was fabulous.

In future I would transfer and chose seat D18.

Toilets
The toilet was located very near to the wheelchair space.

However it was tiny. Barely big enough to fit a compact chair and with no turning space. It was not possible to lock to door once inside.
Another wheelchair user attending the show left their chair outside.

I visited in April 2024 and all views expressed above are my personal opinion.
It was my first visit to Duke of York Theatre
